7 times the power gap between Korea and Japan

At the center of a month-long military conflict between Korea and Japan since the end of last year is a patrol plane that carries out surveillance, patrols, and even enemy attacks. Although the Korean Navy's STIR (STRA) aimed at the patrol aircraft of its maritime self-defense force, the situation of the two countries is reversed as the Japanese patrol aircraft continued to fly low-altitude threats. According to the South Korean Navy and the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, the South Korean military introduced eight P-3Cs manufactured by U.S. defense company Lockheed Martin in 1995 and added eight P-3CKs in 2010 to reinforce anti-submarine forces. Currently, a total of 16 patrol planes are watching the 900 miles of our territorial waters. The South Korean Navy is not just laying its hands on it. It is going to push for introducing new high-performance patrol aircraft. The government decided to purchase Poseidon (P-8A), manufactured by Boeing, after conducting preliminary research in 2017. In September last year, the U.S. Department of State approved the sale of Poseidon (FMS), and two months later, the Korean government signed a contract with the U.S. to import six Poseidons by 2020. FMS is a contract between governments that is applied when the U.S. government exports its own weapons that require technology protection to allies, and it is a kind of indirect trade in which the U.S. government buys products from the U.S. government, which guarantees the sale of products instead of directly contacting the U.S. companies. 
Poseidon, a Boeing 737-modified aircraft, costs 220 billion won per unit. It is equipped with multi-function surveillance radar 'AN/APY-10'. The maximum speed is 907 kilometers per hour, 7,500 kilometers per hour, and 2,200 kilometers in radius of operation. It is not much different from the Japanese Self-Defense Force's P-1 in terms of performance. Currently, the U.S., Australia, India, and the U.K. have already deployed these facilities and Norway, New Zealand are planning to introduce them. "Although South Korea's maritime power is ten years older than Japan, Poseidon will be able to operate multiple purposes such as a naval patrol boat, anti-submarine, anti-ship, anti-ship, and land operations, so it will be better able to respond to changed security threats after the deployment of electricity," a source from the Navy said.
